Italian Grand Prix: Difficult race for Chantra in Mugello
IDEMITSU Honda LCR rider Somkiat Chantra wrapped up a tough race at the Mugello Circuit.
- Somkiat Chantra was ready to fight and attempt a comeback from 22nd on the grid.
- Unfortunately, things took a turn due to an incorrect procedure by the team. Just moments before the warm-up lap, Chantra stalled his bike. The team immediately restarted it in an effort to assist him. However, a second engine start on the grid is not permitted under the regulations. The correct procedure would have been to remove the bike and start from the pit lane.
- As a result, Chantra was handed a double long lap penalty. Still, he pushed through and finished the race as best he could, crossing the line in 18th place.
- The whole team apologizes for the incident and is determined to bounce back stronger at the next round in Assen.
Somkiat Chantra 18th
“It was a tough race, and of course, I’m disappointed about what happened on the grid before the start. But we’re a team, and we learn together. I did my best to push despite the penalty and gave everything until the end. Now it’s time to reset, stay focused, and come back stronger in Assen”
