Americas Grand Prix: Demanding race for Somkiat Chantra in Texas
IDEMITSU Honda LCR Rider Somkiat Chantra finishes 16th in Sunday’s Race at the Circuit of the Americas.
- Somkiat Chantra faced a challenging race, as this is one of the most demanding events on the calendar for him.
- Starting from 21st on the grid, the race began with chaotic conditions as light rain appeared, making it difficult to settle on the right strategy. Deciding for rain option, he then had to switch to dry tyres at the last moment after many of his rivals made the change. This caused a delay as everyone had to switch bikes.
- Once the race finally began, Somkiat did his best to maximize his performance but struggled with some issues on the direction changes. However, he collected valuable data, and is determined to improve ahead of the next round.
Somkiat Chantra 16th
“It was a difficult race for me, really tough. This track has a lot of direction changes and corners, making it quite challenging. The positive thing is that we made improvements in the braking areas, and we’re working hard. We’re not giving up, and we’ll aim to do better in Qatar.”
