Spanish Grand Prix: Somkiat Chantra finishes the Sprint in Jerez

IDEMITSU Honda LCR rider Somkiat Chantra crossed the line in 20th place in Saturday’s Sprint at Jerez.

• After qualifying 21st in the morning session, Somkiat was determined to fight back in the Sprint.
• He felt strong and was committed to making the most of the race, but a mistake at the start jeopardized his plans and cost him valuable time.
• Chantra had opted for the soft rear tyre and struggled to manage it over the course of the Sprint, which impacted his final result.
• Looking ahead to Sunday’s race, he will switch to the medium rear tyre in hopes of delivering a stronger and more consistent performance.

“Today the Sprint was quite demanding. We followed our plan, and I was happy with the bike setup. However, I lost some time at the start, then tried to manage the tyre. We chose the soft rear today, and it was a bit on the limit, so tomorrow we’ll switch to the medium.”
