Americas Grand Prix: Tough Sprint for Somkiat Chantra in Texas

IDEMITSU Honda LCR rider Somkiat Chantra finished 19th in Saturday’s Sprint at the Circuit of the Americas.

• Following a challenging qualifying session this morning, the Thai rider started from 21st on the grid.
• Some mistakes on the opening lap and a lack of feeling prevented him from closing the gap to the group and gaining positions.
• Given that the track is particularly demanding, Chantra pushed hard and fought as much as possible, but struggled to maintain the pace, ultimately crossing the line in 19th place.

 

“This track is challenging for me, and the Sprint was tough. At the start, I tried to stay with the group, but I made a few mistakes on the first lap and lost some time. I fought to come back, but it was difficult to maintain the pace. Tomorrow, we’ll work harder and make improvements.”
